At least two people were killed in road accidents in Joypurhat, Panchagarh and Narayanganj districts yesterday.
Our Joypurhat correspondent reports: A motorcyclist was killed in a road accident in Pakortali area of the district in the morning.
The victim was identified as Firoz Hossain, 38, son of Entaj Ali of Jamalganj Bazar area under Joypurhat Police Station.
The accident took place around 9.30 am when a vehicle locally called “votvoti” collided with a motorcycle carrying Firoz in Pakortali area, leaving him dead on the spot, said Abdur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Joypurhat police station.
In Narayanganj, a minor girl was killed in a road accident in Fatulla area of Sadar upazila in the morning.
The deceased was identified as Lamia, 10, daughter of Amanullah Miah of Bholail area. She was a Class-III student of Bholail Govt Primary School.
SI Golam Mostafa of Fatulla police station said the accident took place in Bholail area around 10am when a battery-run auto-rickshaw ran over Lamia while she was crossing the road on her way to school, leaving her dead on the spot.
Police arrested three-wheeler driver Sohel, he added.
Our Panchagarh correspondent said a minor boy was killed in a road accident on the Tetulia-Banglabandha Highway at Ranchandi village in Tetulia upazila.
The victim was identified as Bayojid Shah, 08, son of Mozibar Rahman of Ranchandi village under the upazila.
