Two Jubo Dal activists have been killed in a “gunfight” with police at Jobarpar under Agailjhara upazila in Barisal.
The deceased are Tipu Hawladar, 30 and Kobir Molla, 32.
Agailjhara OC Monirul Islam said police arrested Kbir and Tipu in an arson case on Friday.
“On the basis of the information they provided, a police team conducted a drive at Bidhan Nagar point to arrest some criminals at 2am on Saturday. Sensing the presence of police, criminals hiding in the area attacked the law enforcers,” he said.
In retaliation, police fired back, which left the two of them dead on the spot.
Meanwhile, two policemen were injured in the incident.
