A fire has gutted an electronics factory at Kaliakoir upazila in Gazipur on Wednesday evening.
Apurba Bal, station officer of Kaliakoir fire service said: “The fire started from a short circuit beside the TV processing section of Zamuna Electronics and Automobiles factory, around 6pm in the evening.The fire rapidly spread to the other phase of the factory.”
On being informed, six firefighter units from Kaliakoir and Gazipur reached the spot, and started working to control the fire, he said.
Factory store manager, Abu Yusub, said around 20,000 refrigerators, 6,000 TVs, and a number of valuable machines have been destroyed.
Firefighters could not completely bring the fire under control as of filing this report around 8pm.
