Moncho welcomes verdict

The activists of the various factions of the Gonojagoron Moncho and other pro-Liberation War organisations have welcomed the tribunal verdict that handed down death penalty to war criminal Abdus Subhan.

After the verdict, Moncho activists also brought out victory rallies at and around the Shahbagh intersection in the capital.

In his immediate reaction to the verdict, Imran H Sarkar, spokesperson of one of the factions of the Moncho, said: “We welcome the verdict. We thank the government and the tribunal for it.”

He also said: “Now we want to see quick execution of the verdict because it will establish rule of law in the country.”

Since morning, the activists of the various factions of the Moncho took position at Shahbagh, waiting in anticipation for the verdict against the Jamaat leader.

The three-member International Crimes Tribunal 2, led by Justice Obaidul Hassan, handed down death penalty to Subhan.

He was found guilty on six charges out of nine.
