Three rail routes have been disrupted in the last three weeks in the Brahmanbaria area of the Dhaka-Chittagong-Sylhet-Noakhali railroad, leading for the rail schedule on this route to be heavily disrupted.
On the other hand, without rail officials reportedly have not taken any step other than merely forming a probe committee, and are blaming the current political violence for this disruption.
Sources say between Jan 25 and February 13, there were three rail accidents in the Brahmanbaria section.
On Jan 25, six compartments of a Dhaka-bound train were detached in Brahmanbaria's Paghachang Rail Station area, leading for a temporary railroad shut-down in Chittagong, Sylhet and Noakhali, which did not revive until 11pm that night.
On February 7, the detachment of a compartment from a Chittagong-bound train led to the temporary halting of the Dhaka-Chittagong and Chittagong-Sylhet rail routes.
On Feb 13, the engine and three compartments of a Dhaka-bound train got detached, leading again to a temporary halt in train services.
Following these incidents, there were massive delays from the Brahmanbaria rail station some stretching as long as 15-hours and 11-hours.
Brahmanbaria Rail Station Master Mahidur Rahman said: “Following continuous derailment of trains, the schedule has been upside down. It will take a few more days to bring back the regularity.”
Akhaura Railway Jail Police Officer-in-charge Yasin Faruk Majumder said: “These accidents are happening due to problems in the lines. There is no reason to blame political violence as we have law-enforcers at close intervals along the rail routes.
