Chittagong arson victim dies

A man, who received severe burns in an arson attack, has succumbed to his injuries at the burn unit of Chittagong Medical College Hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

The victim, Idris, 20, died at 4:45pm while undergoing treatment, said Associate Prof Dr Mrinal Kanti Das, head of the burn unit.

According to family members, miscreants had hurled petrol bomb at a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, which was carrying Idris, in the district's Potia upazila on February 11, leaving him critically injured.

He was admitted to the burn unit immediately after the attack.

So far, more than 70 people have died and scores have been injured in different parts of the country in violence during the non-stop blockade, enforced by the BNP-led alliance.

Of these attacks, a large number of arson attacks are being conducted on highways. Hundreds of vehicles, including those belonging to law-enforcers, were attacked and set afire.
