IGP: Law and order situation in country almost normal

Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque has declared that the law and order situation of the country has become almost normal.

“Law and order situation in the country has become almost normal.Life in Dhaka city becomes almost normal…… It is tough to say is there any hartal or blockade seeing the vehicular movement on the streets,” he said.

The police chief said this while addressing a function held at the Police Headquarter in the city yesterday, in which 25 police members were awarded for arresting saboteurs during ongoing hartal and blockade programme by risking their lives.

The IGP said some secret attacks have been taking place, and that a list of saboteurs has been made. And police has been arresting persons as per the list.

He also said that the people who have been arrested in connection with bomb attacks are loyal to Chattra Dal, Juba Dal, Shibir or hired by the organisations. They also gave confessional statement in the court.

In reply of a question, Shahidul Hoque said that the supply of food to Khaleda Zia’s office is normal. Nobody is creating hindrance in this regard. She (Khaleda) has been getting food and she is physically well.

About allegations of ‘arrest-trade’ in the police, the chief of the law enforcement agency said that they didn’t get any specific allegation in this regard. They will investigate allegations as Detective Branch of police is working on it.

The IGP said they awarded 25 police to inspire other members of the force into such good works.
