EU deplores violence

The European Union (EU) has deplored the ongoing violence in Bangladesh.

Pierre Mayaudon, the EU ambassador to Bangladesh, expressed EU's rejection of violence when he paid a courtesy visit to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a press release from the EU delegation to Bangladesh office said.

“The EU Envoy underlined that peace and stability would be critical for economic development. On this note he deplored violence affecting innocent citizens of Bangladesh.”

“He reiterated the EU's rejection of any form of violence and constant call for dialogue.”

The ambassador engaged with the Prime Minister on a number of issues related to the EU-Bangladesh relations, including on trade and development, the press release added.

The meeting was held at the Prime Minister's Office on Wednesday.
