ACC exempts Hasina from Novo theatre graft case

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has exempted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina along with  26 others from Bangabandhu Novo Theatre graft case.

ACC Chairman M Bodiuzzaman endorsed the information to the Dhaka Tribune on Tuesday afternoon.

He said all the accused in the cases were exempted on January 22.

Hasina was made the prime accused in the three cases filed with Tejgaon police station on March 27, 2002.

Sheikh Hasina and some of her cabinet colleagues in the then Awami League government on charges of corruption and irregularities in dealing with the project for setting up Bangabandhu Novo Theatre.

However, the High Court has exempted Hasina from the cases in 2010.
