CU Teachers urge Khaleda to halt blockade

Teachers of Chittagong University have urged BNP’s Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia to withdraw the indefinite blockade and stop violence.

They also demanded to take immediate action against the violators and the attackers who conduct subversive activities during the blocked.

The demand came from a human chain formed by Chittagong University Teachers’ Association (CUTA) held in the Chittagong Press Club premises around 4:30 pm on Friday.

Around 120 teachers including CU‘s Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Anwarul Azim Arif and Pro VC Professor Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury took part in the human chain.

CU VC professor Anwarul Azim Arif said: “We, the teachers have taken to the street to protest the worst situation of the people.”

At the programme CU former VC Professor Abdul Mannan termed the violence carrying throughout the country 'foul politics' that has been practicing only for resume the power.

University of Science and Technology in Chittagong (USTC), Hazi Mohammed Mohsin College, Gatak Dalal Nirmul Committee (GADANIC) Chittagong unit and Peshajibi Somonnoy Parishad, expressed their solidarity with the programme.
