9 vehicles vandalised in Natore

The hartal enforcers in Natore have vandalised nine vehicles including one passenger bus on Monday, the second day of the ongoing countrywide hartal called by BNP-led 20-party alliance.

A hand bomb was hurled in Madrasha crossing in the town that injured two men including an egg seller.

Meanwhile, a clash between the hartal supporters and the law enforcers injured four more men.

The clash ensued when the police stopped the procession brought out by BNP activists in support of the hartal.

Another procession was also brought out in protest of the hartal in the town. 

Locals said, among the incidents of vandalism, a truck plunged into the roadside ditch in face of the pickets throwing bricks on it at Manikpur area of Baraigram upazila in the district Sunday night.

Tuhin, helper of a vandalized truck, said the pickets vandalised seven more trucks in a row.

Being informed, a team of Baraigram police recovered the truck from the ditch early Monday.

Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar police said miscreants threw a hand bomb at Madrasa crossing in the city Sunday night.

Two men, egg-seller Madhu Saha, inhabitant of Shukulpatty area and passerby Saidur Rahman, son of Obaidur Rahman of village Dakkhinkoti village of Jhalkathi district, were injured.

Locals rushed them to Sadar Hospital. Afterwards, the attending doctor referred Madhu to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Singra police said BNP activists brought out procession in support of the strike in the court area Monday noon.

They vandalised a passenger bus of Khadiza Paribahan at that time.

Police came in the scene to disperse the mob, by charging baton on the pickets, and arrested two BNP activists.

One police man also injured at the time, he added.

Upzila chairman and BNP leader Abdul Kalam Azad claimed three BNP activists were also injured as the police charged baton on them.
