Miscreants have attacked the house of Sylhet Polytechnic Institute principal allegedly for refusing to allocate money for arranging Saraswati Puja at the institute.
Dakkhin Surma police outpost Sub-Inspector Shafiqul Islam Khan said the miscreants confined Principal Sushanto Kumar Bose into a room and carried out vandalism in his house around 12 midnight on Sunday.
Miscreants also snatched mobile handset and laptop from the principal, said the SI.
Being informed, a team of RAB 9 rushed to the spot and rescued the principal from confinement.
Quoting the polytechnic institute students, SI Shafiq said: "Tension was prevailing on the campus as the principal denied to allocate money for Saraswati Puja."
