Cinemas cancel screenings of Wanted

In light of ongoing protests against the screening of Hindi film “Wanted,” many cinemas have cancelled the film starring Salman Khan.

The film, released in more than 45 cinemas across the country on January 23, has been protested against since January 20 with demonstrators staging agitations in front of cinemas.

On the fourth day of protests, many theatres have refused to screen the film.

Due to the uprising of silver screen stars, directors, producers, crews and Bangladeshi film fans, Dhaka’s Shyamoli cinema stopped screening the film on the first day.

Others are expected to follow suit, including Shoinik Club Movie Theatre and ten to twelve other cinemas. A source said that within a few days most theatres will shut down screenings of “Wanted.”

The film received the censor board certificate on December 3.
