Two persons have been killed in a ‘gunfight’ with the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Dhaka's Banasree early Sunday.
Their identities could not be ascertained. The elite crime busting unit aired suspicion that the duo were criminals.
Rampura OC Mahbub Alam Tarafdar said the incident took place near Banasree Ideal School and College around 2:45am.
He said: "Members of RAB 3 signalled a car to stop, but the miscreants opened fire at the law enforcers, triggering a gunfight. Two criminals were injured in the ensuing gunfight."
Later, doctors declared them dead when taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the OC said quoting RAB officials.
The private car was seized from the spot.
