Mostafa Kamal: Oil price won’t be reduced now

Despite going down the price of oil in the international market, the government will not reduce its price, Planning Minister AHM Mostafa Kamal has said.

The minister said this while replying to a question made by Haji Mohammad Selim MP in a question-answer session of the House on Tuesday.

Kamal said the government has incurred a loss of Tk7,000 crore per year when the price of oil soared up.

In the international market, the oil price is now at $58 per barrel which rose to $147 per barrel.

If the price exists at this level, the government will make profit Tk14,000 crore.

After making recovery of the earlier loss, the government will consider the reduction of oil price.
