A Chhatra Dal leader has been killed in a "gunfight" with the members of DB police at Khilgaon area in Dhaka.
The deceased is Nuruzzaman Joni, secretary of Chhatra Dal's Khilgaon unit.
Krishnapada Roy, deputy commissioner of DB (south) told the Dhaka Tribune police had detained Joni from Nazimuddin road area in Dhaka on Monday evening.
"Later police conducted a raid in Jora Pukurpar area of Khilgaon taking Joni along with them around 2:30am. Meanwhile, miscreants thurled crude bombs at police forcing them to open fire," he said.
The DB official said Joni received bullet during the "gunfight".
He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 3:45am, he added.
Police also recovered a pistol, two rounds of bullets, six crude bombs and a petrol bomb from the spot.
