Huge cache of bullets recovered in Jamalpur

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have recovered 3,740 rounds of bullets believed to be buried during the 1971 Liberation War at Pathorer Char area under Dewanganj upazila of the district.

BGB 35 Battalion Commanding Officer Lt Col Ahmad Tarik said one Abdullah Al Mamun informed police when he found a sack full of bullets under earth during construction works on Thursday afternoon.

Being informed, the BGB members rushed to the spot and recovered the bullets. Later, the bullets were handed over to Dewanganj police station. 

Col Ahmad said: "All the bullets are very old fashioned and POF, short form of Pakistan Ordinance Factory, was written on those."

"It is believed the bullets were buried during Pakistan-India War or the 1971 Liberation War," he added.
