Two people have been killed in separate road accidents on Dhaka-Chittagong highway under Sitakunda uapzila in Chittagong.
The deceased are covered van driver Basir Ahmed, 28, son of Mohiuddin of Barisal and bus driver Saddam Hossain, 27.
Sitakunda SI Lutffur Rahman said: “A Chittagong-bound covered van hit an island on the highway and turned turtle at Choto Darogarhat at 6am on Thursday, leaving Basir dead on the spot.”
Meanwhile, an unidentified vehicle hit Saddam while he was talking over his mobile phone after parking his bus at Siraj Bhuiyar Raster Matha.
The SI police took Saddam to upazila health complex where he succumbed to his injuries after around 4:30am.
