FM: Govt to probe Reaz shooting

The government of Bangladesh will ensure a thorough investigation on the recent attack on former Foreign Secretary Reaz Rahman, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali has told Ambassadors of the European Union countries and Head of Delegation of the European Union in Bangladesh.

He made the statement during a briefing with the officials as part of the foreign minister’s regular consultations with the Ambassadors and Heads of Mission based in Dhaka.

At the briefing, the Ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union expressed concerns regarding the recent violence that has engulfed the country.

The minister has stated that  recent media reports about  a telephone call made by Indian ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah to BNP chief Khaleda Zia and the alleged forced confinement of the later at her Gulshan office since the night of January 4  are both false.

That goes to show BNP-Jamaat alliance has resorted to “Goebbelsian Hypocrisy.”

The EU Ambassadors expressed their collective resolve to further strengthen, enlarge and reinforce partnership between Bangladesh and the EU.

During the briefing, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Md. Shahriar Alam, MP, and Foreign Secretary, Md. Shahidul Haque were also present.
