Man hacks father to death in Natore

A man was chopped to death by his son in Natun Kalabaria village under Bagatipara upazila in the district on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Guljar Sarker, 55, son of late Moksed Sarker of the village.

The second wife Nur Nahar of the deceased filed a murder case with Bagatipara police station in this connection.

Police arrested Sentu Sarker, 25, Goljar's son with his first wife.

Locals and police said Sentu chopped Guljar indiscriminately with locally made Hasua, a sharp weapon, around 10:30am in front of the latter's house where Guljar lived with his second wife and family members.

Sentu attacked him when Guljar was taking his cattle out of his house, leaving Goljar dead on the spot.

Aminur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Bagatipara police station, said Sentu was arrested in the afternoon after the case was filed. The body was sent to Natore hospital morgue for autopsy.

Sub-inspector Mohidul Islam, the investigation officer of the case, said the Hasua was recovered from the spot.

Sentu admitted his involvement in the killing.

Sentu said Guljar, since his second marriage in 2002, always neglected Sentu’s mother, two sisters and Sentu and did not give any rights to them, while living with the second family with four other children.
