The workers at DK knitwear garments in Jamgara, Ashulia staged protest against layoff Thursday morning.
Workers and industrial police said DK knitwear garments Ltd laid off 26 workers following an agitation of the workers demanding increase in their salary on Wednessday.
Seeing the layoff notice around 8am, the workers got agitated and staged protest demanding cancellation of the layoff.
Later, in the afternoon the police removed the workers from in front of the factory.
As the workers left the area, the situation came under control.
Mostafizur Rahman, director of the industrial police-1, said police removed the workers as they staged protest in front of the factory.
Security was beefed up in the area around to aviod any unrest, he said.
