The 8th International Children Film Festival will be held simultaneously in the country’s seven divisional cities from January 24.
Some 250 films by both local and international filmmakers will be screened at the week-long festival organised by the Children Film Society Bangladesh.
The main venue of the event is the auditorium of the Public Library auditorium at Shahbag in the capital. The others venues will be in Chittagong, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Barisal, Rangpur and Khulna.
As a part of the festival, a seminar on child marriage will be held at the Begum Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum on January 27.
Four competition sections have been introduced in this year. The sections are: the Children Filmmakers’ Section, the Young Bangladeshi Filmmakers’ Section, the Social Film Section and the International Filmmakers Section.
Some 30 films made by Bangladeshi children will compete for awards this year.
In a newly introduced segment titled Bangladesh Talent, 15 films made by Bangladeshi youths will be screened.
In the Social Film section, another newly introduced segment, five films will be screened while theme for the segment of this year is “early child and forced marriage.”
