Madhusudan Sangskriti University demanded in Sagordari

Residents of Jessore have demanded a university be built in the memory of legendary poet and dramatist Micheal Madhusudan Dutt in his hometown Sagordari.

The pioneer of Bangla drama was born on the bank of Kopotaksho River in Sagordari, a village in Keshabpur upazila of Jessore district.

The members of Madhusudan Sangskriti University Implementation Committee placed the demand at Keshabpur Press Club yesterday.

Already there are tourist centres, institutions, primary schools, academies and different socio-cultural organisations established in the name of the celebrated poet in the village, said the speakers. Now time demands that a cultural university be built in the name of Dutt in Sagordari, they said.

With MR Khairul Umam as the convener, the 501-member committee was formed on December 20 last year.

Advocate Abu Bakar Siddiqui and poet Khasri Parvez were made joint convener and member secretary respectively.
