Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurates the 20th trade fair
The Dhaka International Trade Fair-2015 where Bangladesh would display quality exportable goods to visitors from both home and abroad has begun on Thursday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the fair at a programme in the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital around noon.
The traditionally month-long fair organised by the Export Promotion Bureau and the Ministry of Commerce has been arranged in due time despite the ongoing nationwide general strike.
The 20th trade fair will run through January at the west side of Bangabandhu International Conference Centre at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
During her speech, the premier underlined her government's contribution towards the country's economy in face of “challenges” in view of non-cooperation of the BNP led 20-party alliance.
“Export has increased, growth has been at over 6% whereas there is a recession prevailing worldwide.”
The premier called out to the businessmen to venture for new business locations indicating pointers to the middle-east, gulf-zone, south asia and others.
Hasina said her government wanted to establish Bangladesh as a country free of poverty, stating that “Our government successfully reduced the poverty during last term.”
