Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed in the capital on Sunday evening, ahead of dawn to dusk countrywide shutdown called by BNP led 20-party alliance for Monday.
"Six platoons of BGB personnel have been deployed at 6 this evening to assist police in maintaining law and order," Deputy Director General (operation) of BGB Col. Khondoker Farid Hassan told BSS.
The BNP led 20-party alliance called the hartal on Sunday evening in protesting arrest of BNP leaders including Goyeshwar Chandra Roy and restrictions on its rally in Gazipur.
