Man hacked to death by son-in-law

A man has been hacked to death by his son-in-law over family dispute at Raghurampur village in Puthia upazila early Saturday.

The deceased is Abdul Jalil, 48.

Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Puthia police station, said Jalil’s son-in-law Anwar Hossain along with his nephew Ripon stabbed him indiscriminately while he was collecting date juice around 5:30am on Saturday, leaving him dead on the spot.

On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

He said three persons were detained so far in connection. The arrestees are Abdur Rashid, 45, his wife Mina Begum, 40, and their son Ripon, 20.

However, prime accused Anwar Hossain remained absconding since the murder.

The process of filing a murder case was underway till filing of the report at 6:40pm, OC Hafizur said.

The body was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
