The regular flight operations at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong have been disrupted due to dense fog.
Wing Commander Nur-E-Alam, manager of the airport, told the Dhaka Tribune: “Two international flights from Abu Dhabi and Sharjah could not land at the airport in the morning due to the dense fog. The flights were scheduled to stop in Chittagong en route to Dhaka. Later, those landed at Shahjalal International airport in Dhaka.”
“Besides, the domestic flights are getting delayed for 15-20 minutes. But, we are hopeful that the situation will improve further as the temperature is expected to get normal later in the day.”
The weather situation suddenly deteriorated sharply on Friday causing bone-chilling cold while the gaps between the maximum and minimum temperatures came down to only three degrees Celsius on an average.
On Saturday, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded were 16.5 and 13.4 degrees.
