2 Bangladeshi workers killed in Malaysia site accident

Two Bangladeshi workers have been killed after they were trapped in wet concrete following the collapse of a floor being levelled at an LRT terminal construction site in Putra Heights, Selangor, Malaysia, on Wednesday.

According to a report by Bernama, Malaysian state news agency, the bodies of the workers were recovered from the collapsed wet concrete around 10:30pm on Wednesday and 1:10am on Thursday.

Tk4.55 crore yaba tablets seized in Chittagong

The officials of Bangladesh Navy have seized some 90,000 pieces of yaba tablets worth Tk4.55 crore from an engine-run boat in the outer anchorage of the Bay of Bengal.

Bangladesh Navy Official Commander Shamim Mohammad Khan said: “On suspicion, the officials tried to approach the boat around 1am while patrolling around.”

Robber killed in Comilla ‘gunfight’

A robber has been killed in a “gunfight” with police in Alekharchar area under sadar upazila of the district.

The deceased was identified as Azad, 30, son of Shamsher Khan of Ashoktola of the district.

3 siblings burnt in Keraniganj gas leak fire

Three siblings have received burns in a fire caused by a leak in gas pipeline at a house in the capital's Dakhkhin Keraniganj early Thursday.

The injured are-- Shahin, 26, son of Hossain Sheikh, and his two sisters -- Taslima, 16, and Aasia, 15.

Yunus ranks 5th among global thinkers

Nobel Laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus, the founder of Grameen Bank in Bangladesh, has ranked 5th among the global influential thinkers in the Global Thought Leader 2014 survey, said a press note.

The survey was carried out by Zurich-based Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute for Economic and Social Studies (GDI) and MIT Sloan School researcher Peter Gloor.

IS captures Jordanian pilot after warplane crashes in Syria

Islamic State fighters took a Jordanian pilot prisoner after his warplane came down in northeast Syria on Wednesday, the first captive taken from the US-led coalition battling the jihadi group.

Jordan's armed forces said one of its pilots had been captured after a coalition air raid over the province of Raqqa. There were contradictory accounts as to whether his aircraft had been shot down or not.
