Two Bangladeshi workers have been killed after they were trapped in wet concrete following the collapse of a floor being levelled at an LRT terminal construction site in Putra Heights, Selangor, Malaysia, on Wednesday.
According to a report by Bernama, Malaysian state news agency, the bodies of the workers were recovered from the collapsed wet concrete around 10:30pm on Wednesday and 1:10am on Thursday.
Selangor Fire and Rescue assistant director of operations Mohd Sani Harul said: “The body recovered Wednesday had been identified as that of Md Suman Mollah, 30, while the body found Thursday had yet to be identified.”
"The bodies were sent to Serdang Hospital for a post mortem," he added.
Sani said the first floor where six workers were levelling wet concrete collapsed at 4:20pm, trapping the two workers, who were on the ground floor at the LRT terminal construction site in Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru, Putra Heights of Selangor.
Four of the six workers who fell along with the flooring were injured while two escaped unhurt, he said, adding that the injured workers were sent to the Putrajaya and Serdang hospitals.
Sani said the Selangor Fire and Rescue personnel called off the search-and-rescue operation after the second body was recovered early Thursday.
This is the second accident involving the LRT construction this year. In the first, on June 26, a man and a woman were injured when a steel beam fell on a car at Jalan Lapangan Terbang Subang.
