Customs officials, in separate drives, have arrested two persons in possessions with 43 gold bars and ornaments worth about Tk2.58 crore from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The arrestees are Anis Mia, 23, and Farid Matbor, 42.
Director general (DG) of the airport customs intelligence Mainul Khan said Anis Mia, who arrived from Chittagong by a domestic flight of Bangladesh Biman, was arrested in possession with 38 gold bars around 11am on Monday.
"The gold bars, each weighing 10 tolas, were reportedly trafficked from Dubai to Chittagong," he added.
In another drive, Farid Matbor was arrested with seven gold bars and ornaments weighing 734 grams worth Tk38 lakh from the green channel area of the airport.
Separate cases were filed with Airport police station.
