Ex-minister Sarder Amzad Hossain dies

Former minister and also an organiser of the freedom fight Sarder Amjad Hossain has passed away in the capital on Friday.

He was 74.

The veteran politician breathed his last around 4pm. He was suffering from cardiac diseases.

The publicity secretary of the first committee of Awami League in independent Bangladesh, Sarder Amjad, is survived by his wife Professor Ferdosi Niger Hossain, two daughters and one son.

He was elected MP with the Awami League ticket from Rajshahi 10 constituency in 1970 polls. A five-time member of the National Parliament, Sarder Amjad, discharged his duties as agriculture, food and land minister of Bangladesh government.
