Ansarullah making drones to attack govt establishments

The members of militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) were reportedly making drones in order to launch “deadly attacks” on important government establishments across the country, said the police.

Masudur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan police endorsed the information to journalists during a media briefing at DMP media centre on Wednesday afternoon.

World Bank commits over $1b to Bangladesh

The World Bank has approved approximately $1.1b for three projects in Bangladesh on Tuesday, stated a press release issued by the bank authorities.

According to the press note, the fund would benefit almost 36m people by improving the quality of primary education, building coastal communities’ resilience to natural disaster, and increasing the nutrition and cognitive development of children from the poorest households.

Pakistan mourns Peshawar school attack

Pakistan is mourning as the nation prepares for mass funerals for 141 people, most of them children, killed in a Taliban attack on a military-run school in the country's northwest.

A three-day official mourning period started Wednesday, a day after seven Taliban gunmen, explosives strapped to their bodies, stormed the army public school in the city of Peshawar.

3 held for Mymensingh 4 murder

Police have detained three youths for their suspected involvement with the killing of a Sramik Dal leader and three members of his family at Labankati village in Mymensingh.

The detainees are Rafiqul Islam, Hafizur Rahman and Abdul Baten. Baten was detained from Netrokona while the other two were detained from Bhaluka.

Fakhrul discharged from defamation case

A Dhaka court has discharged BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir from a defamation case on Wednesday.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrates Muhammad Anwar Sadat passed the order in the afternoon as the plaintiff of the case, Advocate Moshiur Rahman Malek, president of Bangabandhu Foundation, failed to attend five fixed-dates of hearing.
