Miscreants have slaughtered a Sramik Dal leader and three other members of his family at Labankati village of Bhaluka upazila in Mymensingh early Tuesday.
The deceased are Harirbari union Sramik Dal general secretary Rafikul Islam Bacchu, 35, his wife Parul Aktar, 27, two daughters Jinia, 7, and Tinia, 3.
Bhaluka model police station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Kadir confirmed this to the Dhaka Tribune.
He said: "Miscreants slaughtered Rafikul Islam, his wife and two daughters and fled the scene locking up the door. Neighbours broke the lock on Tuesday morning and found the slaughtered bodies of the four."
Being informed police recovered the bodies from the spot and sent them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
