The body of missing master of the oil tanker that sank in the Sela River of the Sundarbans has been found after five days of the capsize.
Chandpai Range Officer Belayet Hossain said locals noticed the floating body of Mokhlesur Rahman, master of oil tanker Southern Star 7, around 6am on Sunday at the place where the tanker had capsized.
He said a person named Al-Amin spotted the body first and then Mokhlesur's younger brother Khorshed Alam identified it.
Khorshed said he recovered the body with the help of the local people.
He said police prepared the first information report on the recovery of the dead body on the spot.
"The body will be taken to Bagerhat Sadar hospital morgue for autopsy. After the autopsy, the body will be taken to our village home in Barisal for burial," he added.
The sunken oil tanker was rescued on Thursday, 55 hours after it had capsized in the Sela River with more than 350,000 litres of furnace oil.
