Shimulia-Kawrakandi ferry service resumes after 10-hrs

Ferry services on the Shimulia-Kawrakandi route of the Padma river has resumed after 10 hours.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Simulia Ghat Assistant Manager Shekhar Chandra Roy said ferry services on the route halted around 11:30pm on Thursday due to poor visibility resulting from dense fog.

He said normalcy returned there around 9:30am on Friday.

Five ferries had been forced to anchor on the middle point of the river because of dense fog.

"We had to halt ferry services to avert accidents as the marking points and beacon lights were not visible due to the density of fog," said the BIWTC official.
