The government has appointed two new administrators for the North and South Dhaka City Corporations (DCC).
The public administration ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard on Thursday.
Jute Department's Director Rakhal Chandra Barman has been appointed to DCC North while Home Ministry's Special Officer Md Showkat Mostofa has been made the head of the Southern side of the corporation.
According to the rules, the newly appointed administrators are supposed hold the posts for six months, however, the order did not mention anything regarding their tenure.
The move comes ahead of the long-awaited of Dhaka city elections which, according to Prime Minister Hasina, will take place in the beginning of next year.
