A train with a single compartment has ploughed onto the platform of Chittagong rail station.
Mohanagar Probhati, which was on the station track for heading toward Dhaka, suddenly came off the track around 5:45am on Wednesday.
Firoz Iftekhar, divisional traffic officer of Bangladesh Railway (east zone), told the Dhaka Tribune that no casualty was reported.
He suspected that 'the train might have been at a high speed' when it hit the platform at the end of its track and ran over the platform hitting the terminal building before coming to a stop.
Two committees have been formed to investigate the incident.
Divisional Traffic Officer Firoz Iftekhar will head one committee while Additional Chief Commercial Manager will lead the other.
The authorities also suspended Locomotive Master Jahirul Haque, his assistant Emran Hossain, and shanting staff Md Jahangir for their negligence in duties.
