Ferry services in the Shimulia-Kawrakandi route has been disrupted as around nine ferries were trapped in mid river on Tuesday night.
The ferries were trapped in middle of river Padma due to the heavy fog with more than hundered of vehicles carrying 2,000 passengers on board around 10.30pm.
BIWTC (Kewrakandi) Senior Terminal Super Habibul Islam endorsed the information to the Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “The ferries are now anchored in the middle of Padma to avoid any untoward situation like accident as we could not manage to locate the beckoning lights due to dense fog.”
The regular service will resume after the dense fog swept away through the route, he added
