President Abdul Hamid has sought support from Bhutan in enhancing connectivity within the South Asian region for the mutual benefits of the people.
The president sought the support when Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay made a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban on Sunday, reports BSS.
Hamid also stressed Bhutan's active and effective participation in sub-regional cooperation in water resources management and power-hydropower and connectivity.
During the meeting, President Hamid recalled the role and unstinted support of the Bhutanese leaders and people to the cause of Bangladesh's Liberation War in 1971.
"The early recognition to Bangladesh by Bhutan encouraged us to fight the War of Liberation," the president said.
He also recalled his working experience along India-Bhutan border during the Liberation War.
Tshering Tobgay said he had a fruitful meeting with the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The cooperation between the two countries would strengthen further in the days to come, the Bhutanese PM hoped.
Tshering Tobgay invited his Bangladesh counterpart President Abdul Hamid to visit Bhutan.
