The railway communication between Dhaka and Ishwardi has been suspended when four compartments of a train derailed near Sayedabad Railway Station on Bangabandhu Bridge.
The communication has been suspended since Sunday morning.
Senior Sub-Assistant Engineer of railway Ashraf Uddin said: “Four compartments of a Gazipur-bound train went off the tracks around 8:15am.”
“Meanwhile, five trains hailed from Dhaka remained stuck in the area while three others were stranded at the Sirajganj end, due to the derailment,” he said.
A relief train has left for the spot to salvage the derailed compartments.
He said the railway communication will be restored after seven hours.
