Four policemen of Tongi police station have been closed due to negligence in duties during a snatching incident in a body carrying ambulance at Sataish area of Tongi under Gazipur City Corporation.
The closed policemen are sub-inspector Abdul Mannan, constables Hazrat Ali, Mohammed Matiur Rahman Matin and Mohammed Abdus Sattar.
They were withdrawn from Tongi police station and sent to Gazipur Police Lines on Saturday morning.
Superintendent of Gazipur police Harun Or Rashid confirmed this to the Dhaka Tribune.
“They were closed for their negligence in duties,” he said.
On Friday, unidentified miscreants attacked a body-carrying ambulance and looted valuables of the relatives of the demised person in Tongi's Bashpatti area.
Rajib, one of the victims of the mugging incident, alleged that the mugging incident occurred in presence of a team of patrol police deployed in the area.
However, the policemen did not take any action against the criminals, the victims claimed.
