Road crash kills 2 women in Chittagong

Two women have been killed and four others were injured in a head-on collision at Sufia Road on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Chittagong’s Mirsari upazila Friday evening.

The deceased are Rina Jhol Dash, 35 and Tasunnesa, 65, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Mustafiz of Mirsarai Police Station.

The SI said: "A covered van collided head-on with two CNG-run auto rickshaws in Mirsarai municipality area around 5am, leaving two women dead on the spot and four others injured."

Being informed, police rushed to the spot and seized the covered van while the injured were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) and other local hospitals, said the SI.

Nayek Shilbrata Barua of CMCH Police Outpost said two injured- Mohiuddin, 35 and Alam, 50, were rushed to CMCH from Mirsarai upazila where they were admitted to CMCH’s causality ward.

SI Mustafiz said soon after the incident the driver and the helper fled the scene while a case was under processing with Mirsarai Police Station.
