A horse race competition has been held at Achra union under the Sadar upazila on Thursday.
The competition had 40 participants nine northern districts.
More than 5,000 people, including women and children, from different areas of those districts thronged the venue of the race.
Later, the UP members distributed prizes among the winners in the evening.
The organisers told the Dhaka Tribune that they arranged this event in order to entertain the rural people.
They also said that the public response has been very inspiring and hoped that this will become a regular annual event.
