The High Court has sentenced a former managing director of Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) to four months of simple imprisonment as the court found him guilty of contempt.
The former BTCL MD, SM Kalimullah, was also fined TK1 lakh. In default, he will have to serve one more month of imprisonment.
The High Court Judge Rezaul Islam pronounced the verdict on Thursday afternoon.
The court also ordered its registrar to execute the verdict.
Immediately after the verdict was delivered, police arrested SM Kalimullah.
