Papon: Ban on Shakib to be lifted

The ban on Shakib Al Hasan’s NOC (No Objection Certificate) from playing the overseas leagues will be lifted from Thursday.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hasan Papon informed this at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur on Tuesday.

The BCB president said: “The decision is not taken yet but I think we will get the decision by Wednesday. I have talked with Shakib over the matter on Tuesday.”

“I will be going abroad on Tuesday and I will return on Thursday. When I return to Bangladesh, I will announce it in the airport,” Nazmul said.

BCB chief also expressed his concerned over Shakib playing in The Big Bash league, saying: “It will be starting by two or three days and if he is not available by this time then it will be tough for Shakib to find a team.”

Earlier BCB reduced Shakib’s six months suspension to three months before he was banned from all type of cricket back in July 7 for serious misbehavior and will also not consider his NOC till December 2015 for playing the overseas leagues.

But it has been a magnificent comeback by the ace all rounder to international cricket upon returning to international cricket where Shakib was the man of the series in the recently concluded three match whitewash Test win against Zimbabwe.

He also made his remark in the five match ODI series clean sweep over the visiting Zimbabwe side which was finished on Monday.
