Committee to probe journo Zaglul's death

A five-member probe committee has been formed to investigate the bus crash that killed senior journalist Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury.

Mashiar Rahman, director (Administration) of BRTA, will head the probe committee.

The other members of the body are Shyamal Dutta, editor of the Daily Bhorer Kagoj, Imtiaz Ahmed, deputy commissioner of Traffic Division (North), Nahmudul Hasan, urban planner of Dhaka Transport Co-Ordination Authority (DTCA), and Khandakar Mahbubur Rahman, traffic control officer of Dhaka North City Corporation.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader made the disclosure about the formation of the probe body while talking to journalists after inaugurating the traffic awareness campaign on Manik Mia Avenue in the capital on Sunday morning.

Obaidul Quader said the nation has suffered an irrevocable loss with the demise of renowned journalist Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury.

Veteran journalist Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury was killed in a road accident in the capital’s Karwan Bazar area on Saturday night. His body has been kept at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) mortuary.

His funeral will be held tomorrow after his daughter Antara Ahmed Chowdhury returns from the US, family sources said.
