Grameenphone agents robbed of Tk28 lakh in Gopalganj

A gang of masked robbers looted Tk28 lakh after shooting two agents of Grameenphone in Swarnapatti area of Gopalganj town on Thursday evening.

Grameenphone's sales executive Korban Ali Kazi, 28, and MLSS Ferdaus Kazi received bullet injuries in the incident.

The gang of four to five robbers attacked Korban and Ferdaus when they were going to deposit the money in a branch of Pubali Bank in Kaparpatti area of the town around 7:00pm and took away the money after shooting at them.

With a bag containing the money, the victims were traveling by a rickshaw from an office of Grameenphone on College Road to the bank.

Locals rushed the victims to Gopalganj General Hospital. Later, Ferdaus was shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

Gopalganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge M Jakir Hossain Mollah said they were trying to arrest the culprits.
