Derailment snaps Chittagong rail links

Train communications on the Dhaka-Chittagong and Chittagong-Sylhet routes remained suspended from Wednesday evening following the derailment of a freight train near Daulatpur area at Sadar upazila of Comilla.

Senior assistant engineer of Comilla Railway Station Irfanul Islam said two wheels of a bogie of the Rangpur-bound freight train from Chittagong veered off the tracks at Daulatpur around 6:10pm.

The accident snapped the train communications on Chittagong-Dhaka and Chittagong-Sylhet routes.

Chittagong-bound ‘Subarna Express’ from Dhaka got stranded at Comilla Railway Station while Dhaka-bound ‘Mahanagar Pravati Express’ from Chittagiong at Lalmai station following the station.
