The lawyer of war criminal Mobarak Hossain has said they will appeal in the apex court against the verdict.
Mobarak’s lawyer Tajul Islam made the statement while expressing reaction over the verdict on the tribunal premises on Monday afternoon.
"The tribunal gave the verdict on the basis of a few persons' depositions. It did not analyse the evidences properly," Tajul alleged.
He claimed that Mobarak Hossain did not commit the crimes for which he was given death penalty.
Tajul also expressed hope that the top court will acquit Mobarak of all the charges.
Mobarak's son Asadullah said: "We did not get justice. We will appeal to the Supreme Court."
Former Awami League leader from Brahmanbaria Mobarak Hossain has been sentenced to death for committing crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.
Justice M Enayetur Rahim, chairman of the three-member International Crimes Tribunal 1, delivered the verdict at 12pm on Monday.
