The law enforcers of Bangladesh and India will work together to arrest suspected terrorists involved in Bardhaman blast in West Bengal of India and the terrorists who were snatched from police prison van in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) joint commissioner also spokesperson Monirul Islam came up with the statement after the meeting with a visiting delegation of India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) held in the capital on Tuesday.
Monirul said: “We have given relevant information and pictures of three Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangaldesh (JMB) terrorists who were snatched by militants to the NIA team.”
“The NIA team has assured us that the Indian law enforcers will help arrest them if they hide in their country,” said Monirul.
On February 23, in a cinematic operation, members of banned Islamist outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) killed a policeman and snatched three of their top detained operatives from a prison van in Trishal of Mymensingh on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway.
On Sunday, the Detective Branch (DB) of police said an Indian citizen was involved in the jailbreak operation in Mymensingh.
A four-member NIA delegation arrived in Dhaka on Monday to share relevant information on the Bardhaman explosion with their Bangladeshi counterparts.
On Monday, the home ministry formed a high-power committee to liaise with NIA in light of allegations that Bangladeshi nationals were involved in the Bardhaman explosion last month.
Two suspected militants died in a bomb blast on October 2 at a house in Bardhaman town in India’s West Bengal state.
The house reportedly had been turned into a factory to make Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) by militants belonging to the banned Islamist outfit, Jama’at-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) of India has arrested a Myanmar national from Hyderabad in connection with the Burdwan blast case.
West Bengal police have already arrested Sajid, a Bangladeshi national and a commander of the banned Islamist militant outfit, Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangaldesh (JMB).
Sajid said during interrogation that he and his wife, Fatima, had been training people at the Shimulia Madrassa, teaching them jihadi doctrine and getting them ready to take part in terrorist attacks.
Sajid allegedly paid Rs8.75 lakh to another accused Kausar, also a Bangladeshi national, for purchasing land for a madrassa in Burdwan.
